COVID-19 Testing

COVID-19 TestingRapid antibody and diagnostic COVID-19 testing at our clinics, in your home or in your workplace or worksite.

COVID-19 testing has become an important part of any overall wellness program. Yet not all tests are equal. At Gentera Center for Regenerative Medicine, we offer a group of curated tests specifically designed for your needs.

These scientifically valid tests are tailored to your requirements, and are available for individuals and groups or organizations. For more information on COVID-19 compliance and testing on-site at your production, restaurant, hotel or other workplace, click here.

The tests we offer target different viral markers to give precise and actionable information about your COVID-19 status.

COVID-19 Diagnostic Viral Testing

We offer two types of COVID-19 diagnostic tests to our patients:

Same-day or next day COVID-19 test: RT-PCR Diagnostic Test

RT-PCR stands for “Real-Time-Polymerase Chain Reaction.” These COVID-19 test looks for the actual presence of RNA from the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes COVID-19. This means it’s testing for active viral infection. This test is often required for travelers.

    • Results take: Just a few hours – same day results are available if you are sampled before 2 p.m. and Gentera’s CLIA-certified laboratory partner performs the testing
    • Sensitivity: 100% – the likelihood that the test will detect the virus if you have COVID-19
    • Specificity: 100% – there is a TKTK chance of the test showing you are infected when you are not
    • Performed on: Both symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals who may have an active infection
    • Method: Nasal swab
    • Limits: Can’t show if someone had COVID-19 or was infected in the past

Highlights:

    • Diagnoses active infection
    • Same-day or next-day results
    • Highly accurate

Rapid COVID-19 test: Antigen Diagnostic Test

This test checks for the proteins produced by the SARS-COV-2 virus that live on its surface. It uses a simpler molecular-action protocol that allows for rapid processing.

    • Results take: 15 to 30 minutes.
    • Sensitivity: 88.4% – if you have COVID-19, there is an 11.6% chance that the test will fail to detect it
    • Specificity: 100% – there is a TKTK% chance of the test showing you are infected when you are not
    • Performed on: Both symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals who may have an active infection
    • Method: Nasal swab
    • Limits: Can’t show if someone had COVID-19 or was infected in the past

Highlights:

    • Diagnoses active infection
    • Results in 15 to 30 minutes
    • Highly accurate results, but false positives can happen (especially where few people have the virus)
    • May need a subsequent test to confirm negative results, especially if symptoms of COVID-19 are present

COVID-19 Antibody Serology Testing

COVID-19 antibody test can tell you whether you were infected with COVID-19 in the past or produced antibodies in response to a vaccine. Individuals may wish to have antibody testing on a regular basis to better understand their potential risk of becoming sick with COVID-19.

How do COVID-19 antibody tests work and what do they indicate?
These two COVID-19 antibody tests investigate whether the immune system has produced antibodies to COVID-19, indicating someone was recently infected, exposed or responded to a vaccine. Research has not yet clarified how long antibodies remain in the system after infection, exposure or vaccination.

Note: Antibody testing is not considered a reliable method for determining whether someone has been exposed to COVID-19 and can infect others. Individuals to do not usually develop detectable antibodies until at least 3 to 5 days after COVID-19 exposure or infection.

The presence of antibodies does not mean that you cannot contract COVID-19. It means that you are far less likely to contract the virus; if you do become contract the virus, you are less likely to have a moderate or severe case of COVID-19 (you are more likely to only become mildly ill).

Individuals with COVID-19 antibodies appear to be less likely to spread COVID-19 to others if they come in contact with the virus. However, research on reducing transmission is still ongoing.

We offer two types of COVID-19 antibody tests to patients:

IgM/IgG Rapid Antibody Test (faster, but less accurate)

Gentera’s COVID-19 Rapid IgM/IgG Antibody test is manufactured in the U.S. by Ray Biotech. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration gave this test authorization for distribution under Emergency Use Authorization.

This test looks for IgM antibodies, which are short-term antibodies, as well as IgG antibodies, which are long-term antibodies.

  • Results take: 15 minutes
  • Sensitivity: 90.44% – a 9.56% chance it will indicate you do not have antibodies when you do have them
  • Specificity: 98.31% – a 1.69% chance it will indicate you do have antibodies when you do not
  • Performed on: Individuals who may have had or been exposed to COVID-19, whether or not they ever displayed symptoms, and those who had a COVID-19 vaccination
  • Method: Blood drawn through finger stick
  • Limits: Sometimes a second antibody test may be needed for accurate results; antibodies may not show up in an individual who was infected within the past 3 to 5 days and is carrying the virus

Dried Blood-Spot Serology Test (takes 36 hours, but more accurate)

Gentera’s COVID-19 Dried Blood-Spot Serology Test is manufactured in TKTK by TKTK. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration TKTK.

This test compares the sample against four known COVID-19 antigens, which provides more information about infection status than the IgM/GgG Rapid Antibody test.

  • Results Take: 36 hours
  • Performed on: Individuals who may have had or been exposed to COVID-19, whether or not they ever displayed symptoms, and those who had a COVID-19 vaccination
  • Method: Blood drawn through finger stick for dried blood spot test
  • Sensitivity: 98.1% – a 1.9% chance it will indicate you do not have antibodies when you do have them
  • Specificity: 98.6% – a 1.4% chance it will indicate you do have antibodies when you do not
  • Limits: Sometimes a second antibody test may be needed for accurate results; antibodies may not show up in an individual who was infected within the past 3 to 5 days and is carrying the virus
