Chief Orthopedic Surgeon
John Wilkerson, M.D. leads Gentera’s orthopaedic surgical division, providing diagnostic and therapeutic services to manage bone, muscle, and joint conditions with an array of treatment options, including stem cell therapy, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections, rehabilitation, arthroscopic surgery, and minimally invasive surgery. The board-certified orthopaedic surgeon has been performing platelet-rich plasma therapy for the treatment of orthopedic injuries since 2005 and bone marrow aspirate stem cell therapy since 2010.
A fellow of both the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, he graduated and completed his residency at the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University. Following sports medicine fellowship at the University of Miami, he served as Assistant Team Physician of the 2001-2002 National Champion University of Miami Hurricanes football team. Dr. Wilkerson completed clinical research in arthroscopic shoulder surgery, published in the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow, as well as additional research in orthopaedic surgery and biomechanics, published in multiple peer-reviewed medical journals.
Dr. Wilkerson sees regenerative medicine as the vanguard of 21st century health care, recognizing the potential of techniques that activate the body’s natural cellular healing mechanisms.
