Dr. Joseph Michienzi, graduated with honors from the University of Pittsburgh College of Arts and Science and the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and earned his D.M.D. degree with advanced studies in Head and Neck Anatomy. He completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital- Colombia University and instructed anatomy. He received his M.D. degree with honors from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. He completed his prerequisite training in General Surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. He continued on to complete a residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio. He also completed pediatric craniofacial fellowships at The World Craniofacial Foundation in Dallas, Texas and at Service de Neurochirurgie Pédiatrique Hôpital Necker-Enfants Malades, in Paris France. His aesthetic surgery training is from Artisan Plastic Surgery in Pennsylvania. Dr. Michienzi’s research and drawings are included in plastic surgery text books and journals.
He is in constant pursuit of education and is an active participant in the American Society of Plastic Surgery, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and International Society of Craniofacial Surgery. His dedication and training brings a new perspective to the art and science of plastic and reconstructive surgery and a comprehensive understanding of both the skeletal and soft tissue structural framework of the face and body.
The benefit of these specialized skills allows him to evaluate each patient to create individualized solution to both while addressing their aesthetic concerns. His unique background allows him to help problem solve even in the more complex cases which is a special interest of his here at the Gentera Center of Regenerative Medicine.
